As If Humankind Didn’t Have Enough Worries – La Palma!!

The “baby island” of La Palma, located in the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa has been increasingly seismically active.

The fault involved in this activity has the potential to throw tens of billions of rocks that will go crashing down to the sea. The resulting rock slide could create a tsunami that displaces a half mile of ocean.

This will then cascade into a dome of water three thousand feet high. Then this mega tsunami will travel out in many directions. The effect could result in destruction of coastal areas of Europe and even the eastern sea board of the USA.

“The Cumbre Vieja is 25 years overdue. It is being increasingly shaken by new seismic swarms. I would definitively prepare if I was living around!”

Cumbre Vieja is going to erupt shortly: Second earthquake swarm within a month hits beneath the volcano on the Canary Islands prompting fears of a cataclysmic tsunami

  1. Sounds kind of apocalyptic.

The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was hurled into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood,9 and a third of the creatures which were in the sea [f]and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed.

  2. This has been on my list of worries for quite a few years, along with a large meteorite strike and a coronal mass ejection (CME) which will fry most computer chips (and satellites and the electrical grid). I think each of these is a question of when, not if. Imagine life without electricity and computers for an extended period of time. Naturally, our government has other, more important things to plan for, like changing pronouns and nouns and commanding who may use which toilet.

  3. What? Me worry? Why? So we get a tsunami that wipes out low-lying Washington DC and the surrounding Swamp? That would properly be characterized as the benevolent action of a kind God.

  7. From the link:  “Although another catastrophic eruption at Yellowstone is possible, scientists are not convinced that one will ever happen.”
As a contrarian, I am now nervous.
